the new land registry building is financed, built and maintained in public private partnership (ppp) by ofra generalbau. the design by tagebau - who were responsible for design, detail design and contributed to the site supervision - provides a linear building at right angle to the road.

the fassade is clad with self-protecting corten-steel panels with vertical glass louvres for solar protection. the fixed louvres provide optimum solar protection without complex mechanisms while allowing views out of the building across the adjoining hills. the building was handed over to the tenant in october 2007 after only 7 months of on-site construction.

the reduced construction period was mad possible by using the ofra-system of modular construction. only the two ends and the slab above the car parking underneath the building were built in-situ. the central part of the building was erected by prefabricated steel assembly panels.

the offices are grouped around a "combi"-zone where central office infrastructure such as filing, copying and printing can be accessed. glass partition separate the offices from the central zone, thus creating an open, transparent and communicative feel.
