the design was developed within a limited competition for a small company headquarter building. the two-storey building has a curved roof sloping to ground level, thus creating an elegant green façade towards the road and framing the generously glazed entrance.the structure of the building provides a flexible, space and cost saving interior with well lit and functional workspaces for the maintenance and repair of hightech medical equipment. the structure kept to the very tight budget by a steel frame with concrete-hollow-decking and and a trapezoidal steel roof providing lateral stability without secondary steel structure. the floor area was minimized by providing open and multi-functional space for the main functions within the building.despite the efficiency and frugality, the tagebau design promised an iconic and ecological building in an otherwise unprepossessing business park between the motorway and the city of halle. tagebau provided with the preliminary design a budget price offer of a local turn-key contractor: on time and on budget.the design was awarded an honorary mention in the competition.
