the building is arranged around the courtyard used for maintenance works and training. it therefore forms the centre of this complex, which as a non-professional fire station plays an important role in the community. at the same time the central courtyard allows a dramatic reduction in the circulation area and therefore the cost of the building.

the paths for arriving alarm personnel and exiting fire engines are strictly separated to ensure that they do not conflict with each other. the building acts as a noise buffer between the exit route and the neighbouring housing estate.
