school, hamburg hafencity
on a 3000 sqm plot a school with sports hall and playground as well as a commercial use were to be located.
the school's playground is located on the roof to avoid mutual disturbance. the school itself is orientated towards the new sandtorpark north of the site. the hotel looks the other way towards the river and its cruise terminal. the intimate 3 to 4 star design hotel provides 48 rooms with a reception and a restaurant on the top level.
it turns its back with stairs and utility rooms to the school for maximum independence.
the tagebau design and partner ofra generalbau gmbh & co kg was awarded joint first prize in the ppp-tendering process. the contract was nevertheless to yet another tenderer who is now building a much higher density scheme.
